6th June 2023 – (Beijing) China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Dai Bing, has stated that external intervention or unilateral sanctions will not solve the problems in Central Africa. Dai stressed that solutions to African issues must be found from within the region, and the international community should respect the sovereignty and ownership of the countries concerned and support their efforts to maintain regional political stability.

He also urged support for regional organisations in their response to security challenges and called on the international community to provide concrete assistance to address the challenges posed by climate change in the region. Developed countries and international financial institutions must also make real efforts to understand the difficulties faced by regional countries and deliver on their development assistance commitments, he said. China supports peace and development in the region and stands ready to provide constructive support.
