10th June 2023 – (Beijing) China and Indonesia have agreed to promote the building of a community with a shared future, according to a statement released on Friday. During a phone call between Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Indonesia’s Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening mutual learning on governance and accelerating their respective development and revitalisation.
The joint commissioning and testing of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, a flagship project of Belt and Road cooperation, was highlighted as an important step toward the operation of the entire line, which will inject new impetus into Indonesia’s development.
China and Indonesia share similar historical experiences and common endeavours as major developing countries and important representatives of emerging economies. Both sides hope to deepen practical cooperation in various fields to benefit the two peoples, accelerate key cooperation projects, and promote the building of the Indonesia-China community with a shared future.
