China and France unite to tackle climate change, aiming for successful COP28 session

20th November 2023 – (Beijing) Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed on Monday that China is prepared to collaborate with France in order to jointly address climate change challenges. The statement, made during a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, also emphasised the two nations’ shared commitment to ensuring the success of the forthcoming 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping also expressed his pleasure on Monday at the growing number of French products entering the Chinese market, and extended a warm welcome to further investments from French companies in China.

During a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Xi also expressed China’s hope for France to ensure a fair and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises investing in the country.
