Chief Executive to lead delegation at 24th Plenary of Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference

25th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, Mr. John Lee, will head a delegation attending the 24th Plenary of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference in Guangzhou on Thursday, 27th June. Co-chairing the plenary with Mr. Wang Weizhong, the Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr. Lee aims to advance the high-quality development of Hong Kong/Guangdong cooperation and realise the new strategic positioning of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Under the theme “Taking forward the high-quality development of Hong Kong/Guangdong co-operation, and realizing the new strategic positioning of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,” the plenary will foster discussions on strengthening cooperation in crucial sectors such as innovation and technology, finance, healthcare, cross-boundary transport, and trade.

Accompanying Mr. Lee in the HKSAR Government delegation are esteemed officials, including the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr. Chan Kwok-ki; the Deputy Secretary for Justice, Mr. Cheung Kwok-kwan; the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr. Erick Tsang Kwok-wai; the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr. Christopher Hui; the Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr. Tse Chin-wan; the Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau; the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mr. Lam Sai-hung; the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong; and the Director of the Chief Executive’s Office, Ms. Carol Yip.

Following the plenary, Mr. Lee is scheduled to return to Hong Kong in the evening. The conference serves as a vital platform for fostering collaboration between Hong Kong and Guangdong, strengthening ties, and driving forward the development of the Greater Bay Area.
