Chief Executive applauds HK’s payload specialist selection as part of China’s fourth batch of preparatory astronauts

11th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) The China Manned Space Agency has announced the completion of the recruitment process for the fourth batch of preparatory astronauts, including a notable selection from Hong Kong as a payload specialist.

The Chief Executive, John Lee expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for granting Hong Kong citizens the opportunity to participate in the recruitment exercise and the chance to contribute to the country’s aerospace development. The selection of a payload specialist from Hong Kong signifies the distinctive role the city plays under the ‘one country, two systems’ framework.
