Chance of issuing Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals not high, Noru expected to keep a distance of around 700km from HK

26th September 2022 – (Hong Kong) According to the present forecast track, Tropical Cyclone Noru will move across the central part of the South China Sea towards the vicinity of the central part of Vietnam in the next couple of days. Noru is expected to keep a distance of around 700 kilometres from Hong Kong. Its direct threat to the territory is not high. Unless Noru changes to take a more northerly track approaching the coast of Guangdong, the chance of issuing Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals is not high. However, under the influence of the northeast monsoon, east to northeasterly winds will prevail in the territory on Tuesday (27th September) and Wednesday (28th September). It will be windy with a few showers. Members of the public please pay attention to the latest weather information.

At noon, Typhoon Noru was centred about 590 kilometres east of Xisha. It is forecast to move west at about 25 kilometres per hour across the central part of the South China Sea.
