19th June 2020 – (Hong Kong) The New COVID-19 epidemic has eased in Hong Kong, and some airlines have resumed operations to and from some places. Cathay Pacific will resume flights between Hong Kong and the Mainland, Taiwan, New York, Vancouver, Japan, Thailand and other places from 21st June onwards and it will begin to increase flights next month. Despite the resurgence of new cases in Beijing, Cathay Pacific will still arrange three weekly flights between Hong Kong and Beijing this month. It will start to increase to 10 flights per week from 12th June. Hong Kong Airlines will resume flights between the Mainland and Thailand next month.
Shanghai flights will resume 3 times per week from the day after tomorrow, and will increase to 7 to 14 flights per week from the 1st of next month. Many locations in Asia will resume flights this month and next month. Tokyo flights will resume 3 times a week from the day after tomorrow, and increase to 7 times a week from the 12th of next month.
Earlier, Thailand was excluded from the affected area in Hong Kong, and Bangkok flights will resume 5 flights per week from the day after tomorrow, and will be increased to 7 flights per week on the 12th of next month. As for the United States and Canada, the number of flights between Hong Kong and Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York will increase to 3 to 5 weekly, flights between Hong Kong and Toronto will resume weekly on the 1st of next month.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Airlines plans to gradually resume flights between Hong Kong and the Mainland and Thailand from next month, and flights to Japan, South Korea and other countries will be adjusted accordingly according to local conditions. Hong Kong Airlines emphasised that although the COVID-19 epidemic has shown signs of easing in the Asian region, it still closely monitors the situation in various regions and observes the travel restrictions issued by the local governments. The Hong Kong Government stipulates that Hong Kong residents who have been to any overseas country or region 14 days prior to their arrival in Hong Kong must undergo compulsory quarantine, except those exempted under the Compulsory Quarantine Regulations for Persons Arriving in Foreign Regions.
