Cathay Pacific waives ticket change and refund fees for flights to Taipei and other destinations until 30th April

3rd April 2024 – (Hong Kong) In response to the strong earthquake that struck Hualien, Taiwan this morning, Cathay Pacific has announced that it will waive ticket rebooking, change, and refund fees for flights to and from Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. This policy will be in effect from today until 30th April.

Cathay Pacific understands the impact of the earthquake on travellers and seeks to provide support during this challenging time. Passengers who have Cathay Pacific tickets issued on or before April 3rd, for travel between Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Taichung from 3rd to 30th April, will be eligible for the following refund and change options:

  1. Cathay Pacific Tickets

a. Trip Cancellation/Refund

  • Fees for trip cancellations and ticket refunds will be waived.
  • Fees will not be waived if passengers fail to complete the check-in process on time.
  • All tickets, including non-refundable ones, are included in this policy.

Unused tickets will be fully refunded, while partially used tickets will be refunded based on the fare calculation and the unused segments.

b. Rebooking/Change of Destination

The following conditions apply for the waiver of rebooking and change fees:

  • Requests must be made by 30th April or before the departure date.
  • The new travel date must be on or before 30th June, 2024, subject to seat availability and fare restrictions. The validity of the ticket will also be adjusted accordingly.
  • Rebooking is subject to fare conditions, such as blackout dates, applicable flights, weekday/weekend travel, stopover surcharges, and other peak/off-peak differentials, if applicable.
  • Change of destination must be within Cathay Pacific’s (CX) route network and is subject to seat availability, fare differences, and taxes.

Applicable to the latest version of “Asia Miles” customer interruption management.

  1. Award Redemption Tickets (Cathay Pacific Only)

a. Trip Cancellation/Refund

  • Fees for ticket refunds will be waived.
  • Fees will not be waived if passengers fail to complete the check-in process on time.
  • Requests must be made through offline channels by contacting our customer service team. Booking and ticket service fees will be waived.
  • Applicable to all types of rewards.
  • Applicable to unused or partially used tickets.

b. Rebooking/Change of Destination

  • Fees for flight changes will be waived.
  • Requests must be made by April 30th of this year or before the departure date. Please contact our customer service team. Booking and ticket service fees will be waived.
  • Applicable to all types of rewards.
  • Applicable to unused or partially used tickets.
  • The new travel date must be on or before 30th June of this year, subject to seat availability and mileage redemption seat restrictions. The validity of the ticket will also be adjusted accordingly.
  • Change of destination to or from destinations within Cathay Pacific’s route network and partner airlines is allowed, subject to seat availability and mileage and tax differences.
