17th August 2026 – (Hong Kong) A Cathay Pacific service to Jakarta made a precautionary return to Hong Kong on Sunday evening after a suspected engine overheating indication shortly after departure. Flight CX797, operated by a Boeing 777, pushed back from Hong Kong International Airport at 7.05pm and turned back within minutes of take‑off, touching down safely roughly an hour later with emergency crews placed on standby as a precaution.
The airline’s diversion concluded without incident at Hong Kong airport, while passengers awaited further arrangements for their onward journey.
