Captivating piano duo recital by young Dutch brothers Lucas & Arthur Jussen to grace Great Music 2023 in September

18th August 2023 – (Hong Kong) The highly anticipated Great Music 2023 series, organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), is set to showcase the remarkable “Piano Duo Recital by Lucas & Arthur Jussen” in September. Audiences will have the privilege of experiencing the extraordinary chemistry and versatile piano skills of these sought-after young Dutch pianist brothers as they perform a selection of two-piano and arranged four-hand pieces.

The recital will commence with three captivating piano four-hand pieces arranged from the works of Bach. The audience will be treated to renditions of “Schafe können sicher weiden” (from “Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd”, BWV 208), “Nun komm’ der Heiden Heiland”, BWV 599, and “Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit”, BWV 106. Following this, the duo will captivate with three two-piano pieces, including Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D, K 448, Ravel’s “La valse,” and Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring.” Through their seamless cooperation and coordination, Lucas and Arthur Jussen will showcase their musical richness, harmony, and breathtaking artistry.

Lucas and Arthur Jussen, even as children, were invited to perform for the former Queen of the Netherlands, Beatrix. They spent nearly a year studying in Portugal and Brazil, under the guidance of esteemed Portuguese master pianist Maria João Pires. Lucas continued his studies with Menahem Pressler and Dmitri Bashkirov, while Arthur studied with Jan Wijn. The Jussen brothers have had the privilege of performing with renowned orchestras such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Currently, they hold the esteemed position of Artists-in-Residence with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano.

The magnificent “Piano Duo Recital by Lucas & Arthur Jussen” will take place at 8pm on 18th September at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall.
