‘Captain America’ arrested for allegedly violating the National Security Law in HK

According to sources, a 30-year-old man named Ma, a frequent demonstrator who dressed as “Captain America” ​​and a delivery man, participated in a gathering organised by netizens to mourn for the deceased 15-year-old female student Chan Yin-lam from Hong Kong Design Institute last night. He was also present at the PopCorn mall in Tseung Kwan O and chanted the slogan “Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Times”.

The police arrested him today on suspicion of secession and he was detained for investigation. The news of his arrest spread immediately on the Telegram app as he was an admin for one of the pro-democracy Telegram channel. Netizens who have joined the channel were asked to leave the group or clear the conversation. The police earlier stated that as of the end of August, more than 20 persons involved in violating the national security law had been arrested.
