Bus breakdown causes traffic slowdown in Diamond Hill

2nd April 2023 – (Hong Kong) At 12.13pm today, a double-decker bus was travelling along the Po Kong Village Road in Diamond Hill towards the nearby Hammer Hill Substation when it experienced suspected engine failure, causing billowing smoke to erupt from the vehicle. Passengers onboard quickly informed the driver to pull over and evacuate the bus. The driver promptly reported the incident and notified the bus company.

The incident caused significant traffic disruption as vehicles on the road had to slow down due to the smoke. Firefighters were called to the scene and immediately began dousing the bus with water. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries during the incident. The bus was later towed back to the workshop for inspection and repairs to investigate the cause of the smoke.

The quick reaction of the passengers in alerting the driver and evacuating the bus undoubtedly helped prevent any injuries from occurring. Smoke from the bus could be seen from a distance, causing concern for other motorists and pedestrians in the area.
