Burst water pipe disrupts traffic as workers rush to repair on Hung To Road in Kwun Tong


24th February 2024 – (Hong Kong) At 4.12am today, a water pipe located underground on Hung To Road in Kwun Tong, near the intersection with Hoi Yuen Road and Tsun Yip Street, burst open, causing water mixed with sand and mud to gush out onto the road surface. The accumulation of yellowish mud covered an area of approximately 3 meters by 3 meters. Upon receiving the report, personnel arrived at the scene, promptly closing off the affected lanes and mobilising relevant departments to shut off the water supply for immediate repairs. It is anticipated that the repair work will be completed by morning.

The Transport Department has announced that due to the impact of the burst water pipe, the entire stretch of Hung To Road between Tsun Yip Street and Hoi Yuen Road, as well as certain lanes on Hoi Yuen Road towards Kwun Tong Pier near Hung To Road, have been closed. Drivers are urged to consider alternative routes when planning their journeys.
