19th March 2023 – (London) A man from the U.K. has been left devastated after claiming to have accidentally consumed a Cadbury’s Creme Egg worth £10,000. The incident took place when Adam Davis was unwrapping and eating the chocolate treat as he sat in his van last week. Unfortunately, what he failed to realise at the time was that the egg was actually two different colours – half white and half milk chocolate – and he was “too hungry” to notice.
It wasn’t until Davis’ friends pointed out the odd colouring in the video that he realised what he had done. Cadbury’s had relaunched their Creme Egg hunt by hiding 280 half white, half milk chocolate versions across U.K. stores. Anyone lucky enough to find one could claim £10,000.
The competition had caused a stir among chocolate lovers across the country, with many eagerly searching for the elusive white and milk chocolate eggs. Davis had purchased the egg from a local shop, not realising that it was one of the prize-winning eggs.
Speaking to reporters, Davis said, “I had no idea. I just saw the egg and I was hungry, so I ate it. It tasted like a normal Creme Egg to me. It wasn’t until my mates saw the video that they pointed out the colours. I couldn’t believe it when I found out.”
Cadbury’s have since responded to the incident, stating that they are “disappointed” that Davis had accidentally eaten one of the prize-winning eggs. They also offered their sympathies to Davis, who had missed out on claiming the £10,000 prize.
“We are sorry to hear about what happened to Adam,” a Cadbury’s spokesperson said. “We would like to remind all participants to check their eggs carefully before consuming them, as we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on the prize.”
Despite missing out on the prize, Davis has since become somewhat of a celebrity on social media, with many people sharing his story and offering their support. Some have even set up crowdfunding pages to try and raise the £10,000 that Davis missed out on.
