BMW driver arrested for unlicensed driving and drug possession after collision with Mercedes car in Tseung Kwan O

26th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) At around 9am today, a BMW collided with a Mercedes private car at the intersection of Po Hong Road and Wan Hang Road in Tseung Kwan O. The male driver of the BMW is suspected of driving without a license and being in possession of drugs, leading to his arrest. The Mercedes sustained dents to its body, with the airbags deployed, while the BMW suffered damage to its front end. Photographs from the scene show the BMW driver, dressed in white, seated cross-legged on the roadside, his hands handcuffed by police officers. He was apprehended on charges of driving without a licence and drug possession. The female passenger in the BMW was also arrested after complaining of chest pain and was subsequently taken to the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the BMW couple attempted to flee the scene after the accident but were intercepted and apprehended by members of the tactical unit approximately 100 meters away. During the arrest, the police discovered a bag of drugs. A search dog was brought in, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident. Mrs. Leung, who was present at the scene, stated that her son-in-law was driving the Mercedes to pick her up for church when the traffic accident occurred. Her son-in-law sustained a neck injury and was subsequently taken to the hospital.
