Biman Bangladesh Airlines crashes and breaks into 3 parts at Yangon International Airport

8th May 2019 – (Yangon) A Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane has crashed this evening on the runway and broken into 3 parts at Yangon International Airport, aviation, according to Myanmar Times.

The S2-AGQ – Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 was seen in pictures received by The Myanmar Times lying on the grass near the runway. Dhaka-headquartered Biman Bangladesh Airlines, known as Biman, is the national flag carrier of Bangladesh.

Posts on social media suggest that the aircraft slid off the runway. It was unclear whether the incident took place during takeoff or landing.

The Myanmar Times has contacted Yangon Aerodrome Company, the operator of Yangon International Airport, for further details. No information on possible casualties was immediately available.

The airport is currently closed.
