Bicycle belonging to popular Chinese social media influencer with over 1m followers on Douyin stolen in Mong Kok

9th March 2023 – (Hong Kong) A popular Chinese social media influencer, “Chaoshan Ah Qiu (Cycling in China)”, who has over 1.09 million followers on Douyin, recently cycled to Hong Kong but had his bike stolen on the fifth day of his trip. The incident occurred when his bicycle was parked near a railing opposite the Tai Hei Mahjong Gaming House Company at 100, Fa Yuen Street in Mong Kok.

According to Ah Qiu’s video uploaded on Douyin, his bike lock was cut, and he has reported the incident to the police. He stated that he had been cycling across 32 provinces in China for over three years without any trouble before his bike was stolen in Hong Kong.

Based on his earlier videos, he had arrived in Hong Kong on the 1344th day of his cycling journey and visited attractions such as Disneyland and the filming location of the Hong Kong movie “Infernal Affairs” at the Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre.

The police received a report from a 33-year-old man named “Koon” at 2.36 m on the same day. The victim claimed that he had parked his bike on Fa Yuen Street on the night of 7th March, and discovered it missing with the lock cut when he returned to it in the afternoon. The police are currently treating it as a theft case, and no arrests have been made so far.
