Authorities launch operation targeting illegal workers, arresting 11 individuals, including 2 wanted suspects, in Mong Kok


27th February 2024 – (Hong Kong) In a coordinated effort, enforcement officers from Mong Kok District, along with personnel from the Immigration Department and the Home Affairs Department, carried out an operation yesterday (26th). This interdepartmental operation aimed to combat illegal immigration and illegal labour, with targeted raids conducted at multiple locations within the Mong Kok district.

During the operation, a total of 11 individuals were apprehended. The group consisted of 1 local male, 5 mainland Chinese females, 1 mainland Chinese male, and 4 Indonesian females, ranging in age from 28 to 54 years old. They were found to be involved in various offences, including “failure to carry identification documents while outside,” “violation of stay conditions,” and “overstaying.” Notably, one of the arrested individuals was a 31-year-old local male and another was a 50-year-old Indonesian female, both of whom were wanted suspects. The relevant authorities will follow up on the cases of these individuals in due course.
