16th May 2023 – (Paris) Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the French Open, further delaying his return to competitive tennis after undergoing knee surgery earlier this year. The French Tennis Federation (FFT) confirmed that the 28-year-old player has withdrawn from the tournament, where he has not featured since the 2017 edition. Ranked 26th in the world, Kyrgios had a successful second half of 2022, winning a title in Washington and reaching the quarterfinals of the US Open.

However, a knee injury forced him to withdraw from the Japan Open and the Australian Open earlier this year. Despite efforts to get him back on court, Kyrgios has not played a competitive event this year. The French Open, the second Grand Slam of the season, will take place from 28th May to 11th June.
