2nd October 2023 – (Manila) In a recent national survey, the approval and trust ratings of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte have shown a decline during the month of September. The survey results were released on Monday, shedding light on the changing sentiments of the Filipino population towards their leaders.

Pulse Asia Inc., a respected pollster, conducted the survey in mid-September, interviewing 1,200 individuals aged 18 and above. According to the pollster, “Most Filipino adults remain appreciative of the quarterly performance” of Marcos and Sara Duterte. However, their approval ratings have experienced significant erosions during the period from June 2023 to September 2023.

The survey revealed that Marcos received an approval rating of 65 per cent, while Sara Duterte scored 73 per cent. Although both leaders continue to enjoy majority approval scores “at the national level and across geographic areas and socio-economic classes,” the decrease in their ratings is noteworthy.

Marcos’ approval rating witnessed a decline of 15 percentage points, dropping from 80 per cent in June to 65 per cent in September. Similarly, Sara Duterte’s approval rating experienced an 11 percentage point decrease, falling from 84 per cent in June to 73 per cent in September.

Notably, the trust ratings for both President Marcos and Vice President Duterte also suffered double-digit declines. Marcos’ trust rating decreased from 85 per cent in June to 71 per cent in September, while Sara Duterte’s trust rating fell from 87 per cent in June to 75 per cent in September.
