4th September 2026 – (London) Apple is now facing a significant legal action in the United Kingdom, where a lawsuit valued at two billion pounds was filed on Thursday concerning its application tracking transparency measures. The claim represents application developers who argue that Apple’s rules, introduced in 2021, have severely limited third-party tracking while allowing Apple’s own advertising efforts to enjoy a competitive edge.
According to the claimants, Apple’s requirements for third-party developers are notably stricter than those it applies to its own services, a move they allege distorts competition within the app marketplace. In response, Apple has asserted that its tracking transparency system was designed to give users straightforward control over how applications collect and share their data, and that the company complies with the same standards as other developers.
Authorities in several European countries, including Germany, France and Italy, have also undertaken inquiries into Apple’s application tracking policies. The legal dispute in Britain adds to mounting regulatory attention across the region regarding data privacy and competition practices in the technology sector.
