18th October 2020 – (Shanghai) Apple opened pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro on Friday at 8 p.m. across various channels in China, but the Apple website briefly experienced inaccessibility issues due to the overwhelming number of visitors.

About 1.5 hours after pre-orders began, information on Apple’s Chinese website showed that some iPhone 12 models are still available for shipping as previously planned on October 23, while iPhone 12 Pro shipments have been scheduled to begin 1 week later than the iPhone 12.

When pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro initially began, channels such as Apple’s website and Apple Store app were all jammed due to the overwhelming number of visitors, demonstrating the popularity of the new iPhones among Chinese users.

Access to these channels has now returned to normal, but users who pre-order the iPhone 12 Pro now will have to wait longer than if they pre-ordered the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 12 is priced at RMB 6,299 ($940) for the 64GB version, RMB 6,799 for the 128GB version, and RMB 7,599 for the 256GB version.

The 128GB version of iPhone 12 Pro is priced at RMB 8,499, the 128GB version at RMB 9,299 and the 256GB version at RMB 7,599 ($7,599), and the 512GB version at RMB 11,099.

Both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro feature a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with an A14 bionic chip and up to 17 hours of video playback.

They also feature an ultra-porcelain crystal panel with 4x drop resistance, stay underwater for up to 30 minutes at depths of up to 6 meters, and are compatible with MagSafe magnetic accessories and wireless chargers.

The iPhone 12 features an aircraft-grade aluminum frame with Dolby Vision, HDR video recording up to 30 fps, and a 2x optical zoom range.

The iPhone 12 Pro features a surgical-grade stainless steel frame, Dolby Vision, HDR video recording up to 60 fps, and 4x optical zoom range.

The LIDAR scanner on iPhone 12 Pro enables night-mode portraits, faster autofocus in low-light conditions, and enhanced augmented reality experience.
