5th June 2023 – (Bargarh) Just days after the Balasore train tragedy, another train has reportedly derailed in Odisha. The incident took place in Bargarh district, where five wagons of a goods train, loaded with limestone, derailed near the Mendhapali area.

According to sources, the train was being maintained by a private cement company and was on its way to the manufacturing factory from the Dunguri limestone mines. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the mishap.

Officials from the cement company and the police rushed to the spot upon being informed about the incident. An investigation into the matter has been initiated.

The Railway department has clarified that it has no role to play in the incident as the infrastructure is maintained by the private cement company.

The railway confirmed that the train was owned by the cement company, and the route was only used to transport limestone to the manufacturing unit. The infrastructure, including rolling stock, such as the engine, wagons, and train track, is being maintained by the company.
