1st June 2023 – (Hong Kong) On behalf of the Hospital Authority, a spokesperson for Kwong Wah Hospital issued an announcement on June 1st regarding a case of Candida auris infection in the hospital.
The infected patient was a 75-year-old male who had been receiving medical treatment in a medical ward of Kwong Wah Hospital. He passed away due to underlying diseases on 29th May. Following prevailing guidelines, the hospital has initiated contact tracing and found another patient, an 83-year-old female, who had stayed in the same ward and also carried Candida auris but without any signs of infection. She is currently being treated in isolation and is in stable condition.
