4th June 2023 – (Bangkok) South Korean badminton player An Se-young claimed victory at theĀ Thailand OpenĀ in Bangkok on Sunday, defeating China’s He Bingjiao in the women’s singles final. The 21-year-old came out strong and dominated throughout the match, winning 21-10, 21-19. He fought back in the second game and briefly led by four points, but An’s sure-footed performance ultimately secured her the win.
This marks An’s 15th title on the world tour and her third championship win this year, having already claimed victory at the All England Open, India, and Indonesia. She has made the final of every tournament she has played in this year.
In the men’s final, Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn defeated Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk-yiu to take home the gold medal. Vitidsarn dominated the match, winning 21-12, 21-10 in just 38 minutes. He became only the fourth Thai man to win the tournament and thanked the enthusiastic crowd for their support.
The Thailand Open is one of the first major badminton tournaments to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and it has attracted some of the world’s top players.
