Altercation on MTR train results in arrest of 52-year-old woman for assault

27th February 2024 – (Hong Kong) In a midday incident today on Tuen Ma Line, two female passengers engaged in a heated dispute, leading to the arrest of a 52-year-old woman surnamed Leung for alleged assault. At approximately 12.35pm, Leung and a 65-year-old woman surnamed Ho got into a verbal altercation on the train due to a physical collision. As the train approached MTR Che Kung Temple Station, Leung reportedly brandished a pair of pliers and launched a kicking attack towards Ho, prompting concerned passengers to alert the authorities. Upon searching Leung, police discovered a pair of pliers measuring 8 centimetres by 3 centimetres, leading to her arrest on charges of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. She is currently under detention while the case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Team of Sha Tin Police District.
