3rd June 2023 – (Hong Kong) At around 3am today, a South Asian woman and a local woman sitting opposite each other on the lower deck of a KMB bus no N122, traveling along Public Square Street in Yau Ma Tei, argued over a foot collision. The South Asian woman started shouting and used her phone to take photos of the local woman, and the two engaged in a physical fight. Other passengers on board quickly scattered to avoid the commotion. The driver intervened and tried to calm the situation, saying, “Don’t fight, everyone wants to get home quickly!” After a few minutes, the two sides stopped fighting, and the South Asian woman went upstairs to sit down.

However, the fight escalated when the bus passed through the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and approached a bridge near Morrison Hill Road in Wan Chai. The South Asian woman continued to insult the local woman and threw a black bag at her, leading to another physical altercation. The driver reported the incident to the police when the bus arrived at the bus stop at 38 Morrison Hill Road.

The 47-year-old South Asian woman involved in the incident holds a recognizance paper to stay in Hong Kong, while the local woman surnamed Chan (51 years old) was also arrested on suspicion of fighting in a public place after investigation by police officers. Both women were detained for questioning, but neither suffered any injuries. During the arrest, the South Asian woman also used her phone to take photos of reporters.
