24th March 2023 – (Hong Kong) A 28-year-old marketing officer, Au Chi-ken, has been denied bail once again after he was accused of drugging and raping a man from mainland China at Kowloon Hotel. The prosecution has revealed that two other victims have come forward and identified the defendant at a police lineup.

The alleged sex crime was brought to light during a police investigation into the death of a 25-year-old man at Best Western Plus Hotel located in Tsim Sha Tsui. Last Wednesday, the police discovered links between the two cases.

During his appearance in Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts, Au faced one count of administering drugs to obtain or facilitate unlawful sexual acts. However, he has not entered a plea as of yet. The prosecution informed the court that they had arranged an urgent identification parade for two additional victims as their two-way permit was about to expire. Both victims successfully identified Au as their alleged rapist.

As a result, acting principal magistrate Peony Wong Nga-yan adjourned the case to 15th May, pending further police investigation and forensic examination of fingerprints and liquid seized from the hotel room. Au will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 31st March for his bail application review.

According to reports, Au allegedly used the date rape drug, gamma-hydroxybutyrate, to incapacitate the mainland man, known only as “X,” before engaging in sexual activity with him.

In a shocking twist, a 31-year-old police officer from the West Kowloon Emergency Unit, was also arrested for having sex with X after he fell unconscious. Luk has been suspended from duty and released on bail, with a requirement to report to the police in mid-April.
