Alan Tam tears up closing concert tour finale

23rd September 2026 – (Hong Kong) Alan Tam Wing-lun ended the “Unforgettable” World Tour – The Finale on Tuesday night with tears on his face, a blown kiss to the crowd and a promise that he would never forget the hour.

The Part 2 finale wrapped near midnight. On the last song, Can’t Say Goodbye, Tam — the singer long nicknamed Principal by fans — let two lines of tears fall and said softly: “I will forever remember this moment.” He then sent flying kisses across the hall as the show closed just before 12am.

Before that breakdown, he had already spoken at length. The run, he said, had stirred such a response in town that he spent the whole evening saying thank you — yet there was one person every fan still needed to thank in person. “You should all thank yourselves too.” He pointed to earlier appearances by Andy Lau Tak-wah and Hacken Lee, who had put into words a feeling many shared: that youth and old memories had been worn away and washed out by time, only for music and his catalogue to hand some of them back tonight.

Tam likened each night of the tour to a lost-property counter. Forgotten memories, or ones people dared not revisit, somehow turned up again in the dark, as if the hall were a place to reclaim what had gone missing. He said he saw fans bouncing with joy, others crying two lines of tears, and some who kept their eyes shut through the music, soaking again in scenes from years ago.

He went further with the image of a memory safe. Tonight, he told the room, they were opening that safe together. Fans should thank themselves for reaching in and drawing out the recollections and the youth of those days. Once they tasted the fragments again, they would find that every scene had in fact stayed stored in the heart all along. He then moved into the classic Love in Late Autumn.
