9 protesters involved in protest in TST in 2019 sentenced to 40-52 months in prison and training centre


19th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) On 11th August, 2019, a large number of protesters gathered on ​​Nathan Road outside the Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station and hurled petrol bombs and other objects at the police station, causing burns to the lower limbs of a police officer inside the police station. The police arrested many of them that day. Among them, 10 men and women were charged with rioting. Two of them pleaded guilty in the district court earlier, seven were convicted after interrogation, and one was found not guilty. The judge today (19) sentenced 8 of the 9 defendants who pleaded guilty and they were convicted to 40 to 52 months in prison. Another 14 year old teenage boy was sentenced to a training centre.

In addition, there is still one defendant in the case, Lo Lok-man (21) who has left Hong Kong and did not appear in court.
