77-year-old female swimmer drowns at Turtle Cove Beach in Stanley

25th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) At 7.33am today, a swimmer at Turtle Cove Beach in Stanley made a distressing discovery. A woman was found in a state of suspected drowning. The swimmer promptly reported the incident and sought assistance. The woman was immediately lifted onto a floating platform for emergency treatment. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and swiftly transported her to Eastern District Hospital for medical care. Unfortunately, it was later confirmed that she could not be revived.

The victim, identified as 77-year-old woman surnamed Yuen, was discovered unconscious, gripping onto the iron ladder of a floating platform located approximately 50 meters offshore. Preliminary investigations suggest that she encountered difficulties while swimming, leading to her tragic accident. The exact cause of her death is yet to be determined pending further examination.
