67-year-old woman hit by taxi in Yau Ma Tei and dies, driver and passenger sustain injuries

23rd May 2022 – (Hong Kong) At about 6.01pm today (23rd), a taxi was traveling along Ferry Street towards Hung Hom and approached Tak Cheong Street when it was suspected to have hit a female pedestrian.

After the car accident, the injured person surnamed Leung (67 years old) fell into a coma and was lying down near the rear of the taxi. The taxi driver (61 years old) and a female passenger (33 years old) had chest and neck pain respectively. The 3 victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment, but unfortunately the female victim eventually died of her injuries at 6.46pm. The front of the taxi involved was damaged. Police seized the deceased’s shoes on the road and are investigating the cause of the accident.

According to on-site information, it was suspected that the woman had recklessly crossed the road without using the adjacent pedestrian bridge. . Affected by the accident, some traffic lanes of Ferry Street (towards Gascoigne Road flyover) were closed for a time.
