3rd July 2022 – (Hong Kong) A 22-year-old resident of Kwai Chung, was about to leave Hing Fook House, Kwai Hing Estate by at 7pm last night when he realised that his iPhone was missing. He then tried to call the mobile number, but the call was hung up. Suspected that the phone was stolen, he immediately activated the “Find my iPhone” app to lock the phone, and left a message to contact the person to return it. On the other hand, he also turned on the GPS positioning function of his girlfriend’s phone to track the whereabouts of his phone remotely. According to the GPS location, the mobile phone signal was originally located near Hing Fook House, but it suddenly moved towards Shek Yam quickly.
When they arrived at Ping Lai Path, they found the suspect and the owner of the phone then used “Find my iPhone” app to make the phone vibrate. The other party then dropped his mobile phone into a drain and fled before the owner start to pursue him. Two male friends of the mobile phone owner found him hiding a car park but he used an umbrella to attack them. However, he was subsequently subdued and police arrested the 62-year-old suspect for theft. He is currently being detained.
