6 found guilty of rioting, 2 convicted of possession of offensive weapons during 2019 protest outside TST Police Station


26th November 2022 – (Hong Kong) On 11th August, 2019, a large number of demonstrators gathered along Nathan Road outside the Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station and threw petrol bombs and other objects at the police station, causing burns to the lower limbs of a police officer inside the police station. When the police dispersed the demonstrators that day, they arrested many people. Seven of them denied rioting and other crimes. After trial, the judge ruled in the District Court today (26th) that six of them were convicted of rioting, and two of them were found guilty of possession of offensive weapons in a public place. The defendants will be remanded in custody until 10th December for sentencing.
