6 diners develop food poisoning after eating raw oysters at Tong’s Road House seafood and grill restaurant in Yuen Long

2nd February 2023 – (Hong Kong) The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today investigating two suspected food poisoning clusters affecting six persons, and reminded the public to maintain personal, food and environmental hygiene to prevent foodborne diseases.

The first cluster involved two males and two females, aged 37 to 43, who developed abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea and fever about 38 hours after having raw oysters for dinner at Tong’s Road House seafood and grill restaurant at G/F, 1 Tong Yan San Tsuen Road, Ping Shan, Yuen Long Yuen Long on 28th January.

 The other cluster involved two females, aged 24 and 27 respectively, who developed similar symptoms about 38.5 hours after having raw oysters at dinner at the same restaurant on 30th January.

 Three of the affected persons sought medical advice and none required hospitalisation. All affected persons are in stable condition.
