6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the north-western prefectures of Japan

18th June 2019 – (Japan) A Tsunami warning has been issued in Japan after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the north-western prefectures of Yamagata, Niigata and Ishikawa of Japan. Tremors were felt near the West Coast of Honshu.

Bullet train service was also suspended in the region for as safety precautions. Emergency response team has been set up by the Prime Minister’s office to assess the damages and injuries.
