8th December 2022 – (Hong Kong) At around 4pm today (8th), the police received a report that a 52-year-old male person in charge of a waste recycling site at Ho Yeung Street, Tuen Mun was crushed by the crane truck which suddenly lost control and hit some construction waste next to it. The victim was then hit by an I-beam and fell into coma.
The Labour Department said that after receiving the report, it has immediately dispatched personnel to the scene and is investigating the cause of the accident. Rescue personnel rushed to the scene and provided first aid to the victim on the spot. He was sent to the hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment, but unfortunately he died of serious injuries in the end. The police cordoned off the scene for investigation, and the case was classified as an industrial accident. The cause of death of the victim is yet to be determined by an autopsy. According to sources, after the crane truck overturned, it was suspected that the vehicle caught fire due to oil leakage, and firefighters put out the fire.
