Since the beginning of the fourth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong, social distancing rules have been tightened including non-gathering of more than 2 people in public places and mask order. All public beaches have been closed to avoid the public from gathering.

During yesterday afternoon, a large group of mostly foreigners gathered on the beach in front of The Bay Restaurant at. No.7 Mo Tat Wan, Lamma Island. All of them were not wearing masks and local residents complained to us that they were even blocking the pathway to the ferry pier.

According to local residents, the police from Sok Kwu Wan came to scene but said they couldn’t do anything about the incident and the foreigners continued their drinking session after 6pm.
The restaurant which is believed to be owned by Mr Raymond Chan is a village representative on Lamma Island. Many residents are concerned with the lack of enforcement measures and they hope that the authorities can step up the measures to prevent COVID-19 cases from appearing on Lamma Island.
