5 local men including 2 police officers and one police impersonator charged for conspiracy to defraud

29th September 2022 – (Hong Kong) The Police Crime Squad took the initiative to investigate a case of conspiracy to defraud that occurred in Central on 1st April and arrested five local men aged 30 to 58, aged between 5 and 24, in various districts in Hong Kong on 24th May and 7th June. They were suspected of “conspiracy to defraud”. Of the five arrested, three were police officers who have been suspended. Another non-police officer was also arrested on suspicion of “impersonating a police officer”.

Among the arrested persons, two police officers, together with a non-police officer, were charged with one count of “conspiracy to defraud” yesterday (27th). The non-police officer was also charged with one count of “impersonation of a public official”. The case will appear in the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (29th).
