5 arrested in illegal baccarat casino in Yau Ma Tei

8th February 2023 – (Hong Kong) Police conducted an anti-gambling operation in the Yau Ma Tei area at about 6pm yesterday (7th) based on tips and in-depth investigations. They raided a unit in Pak Lok Mansions, No. 322-326A, Nathan Road, and smashed an illegal baccarat casino. A baccarat gaming table, 5 TV sets, about 2,000 Hong Kong dollars in gambling money, about HK$76,000 gambling chips and a batch of gambling paraphernalia were confiscated in the unit.

The officers arrested the man in charge of the unit surnamed Chan (55 years old) on suspicion of “operating a gambling establishment”. The other two 35-year-old and 67-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of “assisting in the operation of a gambling establishment”. In addition, two female gamblers aged 28 and 36 in the unit were also arrested on suspicion of “gambling in a gambling establishment”. All the arrested men and women have been detained for investigation.
