Sonija shared a close-up, makeup-free selfie and wrote, “Mid-Autumn Festival is one of my favourite holidays. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Mid-Autumn Festival.” The photo revealed Sonija’s natural appearance, showing minimal signs of ageing while still maintaining her timeless beauty.
Sonija Kwok Sin-nei, known for her age-defying beauty, has maintained her stunning looks throughout the years. In 1999, she participated in the Miss Hong Kong pageant and emerged as the champion, also winning titles such as Miss Photogenic, Miss International Goodwill, and Miss Intelligence. Her quadruple victory set her apart from other contestants and propelled her to fame. Her exceptional beauty garnered attention not only as the second Miss Hong Kong champion after Michelle Reis but also through her memorable performances in period dramas such as “Wars of In-Laws” and “The Legend of the Condor Heroes.”
Sonija Kwok Sin-nei, born on 22nd july, 1974, is a Hong Kong actress who was associated with TVB from 1999 to 2015. Since 2015, she has been managed by GAIA Entertainment.
Originally from Hong Kong, Sonija Kwok has a mixed heritage, with three-quarters Cantonese and one-quarter English ancestry. She moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, during her youth. She initially attended the University of British Columbia but later transferred to Simon Fraser University, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology. After graduating, Sonija joined Cathay Pacific as a flight attendant.
After a brief stint as a flight attendant, Sonija returned to Hong Kong in 1999 and participated in the Miss Hong Kong pageant. During the semi-finals, she won the Miss Photogenic award, positioning her as a favourite to win the title. She eventually became the “Miss Hong Kong” champion in July 1999, along with winning Miss International Goodwill and Miss Intelligence. Notably, all the winners of the Miss Hong Kong pageant from 1997 to 2000 hailed from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Following her Miss Hong Kong victory, Sonija became involved in various TVB events. In February 2000, she represented Hong Kong at the 2000 Miss Chinese International pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sonija emerged as the winner, securing two additional awards. Her success in both pageants established her as one of the most accomplished winners, joining the ranks of Michelle Reis, Hera Chan, and Grace Chan as the only Miss Hong Kong champions to hold both titles. While Reis won the inaugural pageant in 1988 and Chan won in 2014, Sonija represented Hong Kong at the Miss Universe 2000 pageant in Cyprus. Although she did not make it to the top ten, she was featured as one of the “Miss Photogenic” contestants on the Miss Universe website’s main page. Sonija remains the last representative from Hong Kong to participate in the Miss Universe contest.
Sonija Kwok has appeared in numerous TVB television series and has also starred in TV shows, series, commercials, and entertainment functions outside of TVB. She has served as a spokesperson for various beauty and commercial products in Hong Kong and has made appearances in television series produced in mainland China.
In her personal life, Sonija Kwok married Chinese martial arts choreographer Zhu Shaojie in Guam in 2011. They met while filming a movie in China a year prior to their marriage. Before her marriage, Sonija was romantically linked to TVB stars Deric Wan and Steven Ma.
