43-year-old police woman charged for assaulting Indonesian domestic helper and stealing her mobile phone


27th September 2021 – (Hong Kong) A 47-year-old Indonesian domestic helper had a dispute with a female employer in a unit on Lei Yue Mun Road, Kwun Tong. During the period, she was attacked with a hand and she sustained injuries on her mouth.

The Indonesian domestic helper subsequently went to Queen Mary Hospital for medical treatment. After preliminary investigation by the police, it was discovered that from June to July this year, her employer had repeatedly assaulted her at home and confiscated her mobile phone. A 43-year-old female police officer was subsequently arrested on 6th July for suspected “assault causing actual bodily harm.” She has now been suspended.

The case was handed over to the Regional Crime Squad of East Kowloon for follow-up, and the mobile phone stolen by the Indonesian domestic helper was recovered. The policewoman involved has been charged with 10 counts of “common assault”, 2 counts of “assault causing actual bodily harm” and 1 count of “theft”. The case will appear in Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Court today (27th) . The police said that they attach great importance to the conduct of police officers. Any police officer who commits illegal acts will not be tolerated or tolerated by the police.
