5th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) Police announced that a total of 420 protesters have been arrested since 9th June till 5th August and over 1,000 tear gas rounds have been fired. Police insisted that they used minimal force during clearance operation to minimise injuries of either party.
Out of the 420 protesters arrested, 347 were men and 73 were women aged between 14-76 years old. They were allegedly involved in illegal assembly, assaulting police office, inciting riot, obstructing police officers in carrying out their duties and possession of offensive weapons.
Since 9th June, police have used around 160 rubber bullets , 150 sponge grenades and 1,000 tear gas rounds.
