18th March 2023 – (Sao Paolo) A devastating incident took place on Friday, resulting in the loss of four lives. The incident involved a helicopter which had unfortunately crashed on a street in Barra Funda neighbourhood, located in the western region of Sao Paulo, South America’s largest metropolis. The Fire Department, an integral part of the Sao Paulo state Military Police, promptly informed on its Twitter account that the accident occurred at 2:35 p.m. local time. Regrettably, the incident not only resulted in the loss of lives but also affected nine vehicles. At present, the Fire Department is awaiting further information.
It has been reported by local media that the helicopter was identified as a Robinson R44 Raven II, which allegedly belonged to an air taxi company. Sao Paulo, a bustling city, houses 411 privately registered helicopters, and as per the Brazilian Helicopter Pilots Association’s 2021 data, 2,200 daily trips are recorded.
This tragic incident has undoubtedly raised concerns about aviation safety and regulations.
