4 garage staff members in Sham Shui Po arrested for provoking police officers

23rd November 2022 – (Hong Kong) A traffic warden was conducting traffic enforcement operations on Maple Street and Fuk Wa Street in Sham Shui Po yesterday morning (22nd).

It is reported that the four garage staff on Fuk Wa Street insulted the supervisor who issued summonses to vehicles parked in front of the garage. Afterwards, more traffic police officers arrived at the scene to mediate. Detectives from the Criminal Division of the Sham Shui Po Police District, the Special Duties Team, the Traffic Team, the Police Dog Unit, the Sham Shui Po Divisional Task Force and the Uniformed Patrol Squad immediately took action and arrested the four men on suspicion of “misconduct in public place” (28 to 32 years old).

3 of them were issued summonses for violating the mask order, and 4 men were detained for investigation. The police conducted another traffic enforcement operation against illegal vehicles on the road section, towed away 3 illegal vehicles and issued a total of 47 tickets. The case was handed over to the anti-triad team of the Sham Shui Po Police District for follow-up. The police emphasised that any act of provocation or obstruction of public officials in enforcing the law will never be tolerated. The Sham Shui Po Police District will, as in the past, continue to strengthen traffic enforcement and prosecution to ensure the safety of road users. At the same time, drivers are urged to be considerate of themselves and others, and not to park illegally or occupy public places.

The 4 suspects were arrested.
