39,506 new local COVID-19 cases recorded in Mainland, cases in Beijing continue to rise exponentially


27th November 2022 – (Beijing) The National Health Commission in the Mainland announced on Sunday (27th) that 39,506 new local COVID-19 cases were recorded two days ago. 1 new death case was added, and the patient was in Chongqing. The COVID-19 epidemic in Beijing has further intensified. Last Saturday (26th), there were 4,307 new local cases, 747 confirmed cases and 3,560 asymptomatic infections, nearly double the number from the previous day. Beijing’s epidemic prevention and control work is in a critical period of racing against time and fighting against the virus.

There were 9,091 new COVID-19 cases of in Guangdong Province on Saturday, 8,443 of which were reported by Guangzhou City. There was a stampede incident in Shunde District, Foshan City, the province last Thursday (24th). At the nucleic acid sampling site of Xinbu Recreation and Cultural Centre in the community, due to the large number of people who went for nucleic acid testing, the on-site staff was relatively insufficient. At the same time, it was raining and the road was wet and slippery, which led to local chaos in a short period of time. 6 to 7 people were pushed to the ground, but there were no serious injuries which occurred.

Henan province reported 968 new local cases. Zhengzhou City held a press conference on the epidemic last Saturday night, saying that due to the large number of new cases, Xinzheng City decided to postpone various temporary control measures until midnight on Tuesday (29th). Zhongmu County, Dengfeng City, Xinmi City, and Xingyang City will designate high-risk areas based on recent new cases, and residents in the areas will “stay at home only receive door-to-door services.”
