18th April 2024 – (Barcelona) A Singaporean woman, initially reported missing during her vacation in Spain, was tragically found deceased with multiple stab wounds, according to reports from Spanish media on Wednesday, 17th April. The discovery marks a grim end to what began as a solo holiday adventure.

The victim, identified as 39-year-old Audrey Fang, had traveled to Spain on 4th April and was scheduled to return to Singapore on 12th April after her stay at a luxury hotel in Xabia, located on Spain’s eastern coast. However, concerns were raised after she was last contacted on 9th April. Ms. Fang reportedly left her hotel around 8.45pm that evening and subsequently missed her return flight from Barcelona.

Her body was discovered on April 10 near a lorry parking area along the RM-422 highway in Abanilla, approximately 150km from Xabia. The identification of the body was delayed, with confirmation only arriving the following Wednesday. The local chief inspector chanced upon the scene while en route to breakfast, revealing the shocking find.

In connection with her death, a Singaporean man was apprehended by Spain’s Civil Guard on Tuesday. Details of his relationship with Ms. Fang have not been disclosed, but he is expected to face court proceedings later in the week.

The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while refraining from commenting on the ongoing investigation, confirmed that the Singaporean honorary consulate-general in Madrid is actively coordinating with local authorities. They have also been providing consular assistance and support to Ms. Fang’s bereaved family, expressing condolences during this challenging time.
