24th May 2023 – (Hong Kong) After conducting a thorough investigation, law enforcement agencies in Wan Chai District, Hong Kong conducted an anti-prostitution operation on 23rd May, together with personnel from the Immigration Department. The operation involved searches of multiple units in the district.
During the operation, 39 people were arrested on suspicion of violating their stay conditions, including 20 mainland Chinese, 8 Russians, 3 Kazakhs, 3 Thais, 2 Moroccans, 1 Vietnamese woman, and 2 Thai men, with ages ranging from 22 to 53 years old. In addition, one 37-year-old local man was also arrested on suspicion of “controlling others for the purpose of prostitution.” Evidence seized during the operation included over HKD 230,000 in cash, condoms, and lubricants. All arrested individuals are currently being detained for further investigation.
