35-year-old injured victim in North Point fire incident dies, Filipino woman and local woman still in critical condition


28th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) In a distressing incident yesterday (27th), a severe fire broke out in a subdivided unit at Ying Wong House on King’s Road, resulting in injuries to four individuals. Among them, a 35-year-old individual surnamed Wong sustained minor injuries and remained conscious while being transported to the hospital. The remaining three individuals were all unconscious and are currently receiving intensive care treatment at Queen Mary Hospital and Eastern Hospital. As of today (28th) at 3.47pm, one female individual surnamed Chan (29 years old) has tragically succumbed to her injuries, while the condition of a 22-year-old male individual surnamed Lam and a 32-year-old female of Filipino descent remains critical. It is reported that law enforcement agencies and the fire department are conducting an ongoing investigation at the scene of the fire. A cordon has been established outside the affected unit, and firefighters are distributing leaflets in the vicinity to promote fire safety awareness and information.
