32-year-old woman arriving from Malaysia arrested for possession of 850 grams of suspected cocaine


3rd December 2022 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong Customs yesterday seized about 850 grams of suspected cocaine, with an estimated market value of about $730,000 at Hong Kong International Airport and arrested an incoming female.

 The 32-year-old woman arrived in Hong Kong from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday. Upon examination of her check-in luggage, the batch of suspected cocaine was found inside the false compartments of four perfume bottles and two antiperspirants. The woman was arrested and an investigation is ongoing.

  Customs will continue to apply a risk assessment approach and focus on selecting passengers from high-risk regions for clearance to combat transnational drug trafficking activities.

 Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
